I was born with a rare genetic syndrome due to a partial deletion of my 21st chromosome. I have anophthalmia, which means I was born without my eyes. Therefore, I am blind and wear beautiful green prosthetic eyes. I do not hear very well so I wear hearing aids. I eat through a g-j feeding tube in my stomach. I battle a seizure disorder, but do not let it slow me down. I have microcephaly and a deformity to my heart. My cleft lip and palate have been repaired and my trach has been removed. I have triumphed over many obstacles, yet have many more to face.
God has granted me many blessings. This is the story of my life and my family's new "normal".
Some luck lies in not getting what you thought you wanted but getting what you have, which once you have it, you may be smart enough to see it is what you would have wanted had you known ~ Garrison Keillor~
