Baby Weight

Ivey went to the pediatrician on Tuesday of last week. She has been as healthy as a horse for over a month, there has been no need to take her in to see the pediatrician. That is an amazing feat. During her last visit in January, she weighed 10.11 pounds. So, when we placed her on the scales on Tuesday, I hoping to see the number 11 pop up on the screen. Nope. A great big whopping 10.1 pounds popped up. Keep in mind that Ivey weighed 10.1 the week of her lip surgery in October.

Ivey did see her GI doctor on Thursday. When the doctor looked at her, he seemed to be somewhat pleased. He was very concerned about the drop in her weight, but thought she looked great. Ivey does look incredibly healthy and happy. She is growing, but only in length. We know that Ivey will be very petite; she is not expected to be on the small side of an average growth chart. Ivey has a growth chart all of her own and she always will. We are persistently tweaking with her formula and praying for results. She needs weight gain.

Also, Ivey is scheduled for her eye surgery on April the 13th. This surgery should be an out-patient surgery.

I appreciate the medical update so I can pray. I have been thinking about Ivey lately and wondering how she is doing. I am so thankful you have been able to be at home with her. Please, Lord, just help her to grow.

The weight thing makes me crazy, too! It took Addison about three months to gain less than a pound. She and Ivey can share growth charts :) (Or NON-growth charts, I should say.)

I got your sweet email and meant to call you on my way home from church this morning but forgot to bring your # with me~and Ivey's gift is still here, but I'm mailing it this Friday. So I haven't forgotten y'all! I'm just REALLY good at procrastinating :)

So glad to know when Ivey's next surgery is--I'll be praying!!

Even kids without health issues can have weight issues. My Sophia for a long time was below all of the weight charts. She got taller, but stayed the same weight. She finally at three got back on the charts in the 10th percentile. We have been told that she will be long and lean.

I hope that all continues to go well for Ivey. I am sure she will gain weight when she is ready. Just like any child, she has a mind of her own.

I think about Ivey a great deal and I will continue to think about her for her next procedure. Best wishes to Ivey and to you guys who are looking out for her.

I will be praying for weight gain for sweet Ivey.
Ezzy is struggling with weight gain also....I am getting in touch with a Specialist to discuss possible ways to gain weight...due to his CP, his high muscle tone uses up all his calaries :) I still G-Tube feed him daily...we will see...if you find out any helpful info, maybe you could send it my way?? I will do it likewise for you!
Praying for strength and wisdom...

HI Gwen,
Thanks for commenting.
Ezzy came home right after birth on a Kangeroo Pump into his G-tube....now after MUCH prayer and therapy he eats baby food by mouth twice a day, on a good day :) he struggles, but we are thrilled with every bite taken :) He has a tube feedings now, by bowles (sp?) feeds, meaning straight in....no pump.
Anyways, I have yet to call back the Doc...we are just "landing" from our trip. The list is long with "to-dos" :)
Thank you again for getting in touch....I have been blessed by you and your wonderful LOVE for your precious miracle...
God is GOOD,
Liz
