Hmm. This is weird.

This morning Ivey skipped (figuratively) off to her first day of school. It was so exciting.  We got up.  Switched gears with the nurse.  Gave meds.  Packed her book bag.  Packed feeding supplies.  Got frilly in a new dress picked out by her brothers.  Loaded up the car and off we went.  This is going to be a great year.  Ivey has an awesome 'TEAM'.  Right as we were heading out the door Knox asked if I thought the teacher would let him read a book to the class.  This was going to be interesting morning. So I said we'll ask - grab a book.  Hmm.  I am positive his little mind envisioned his Pre-K classroom sitting in a circle eyes locked on him as he enthralled them with a story.  He wanted to read from a chapter book.  Deep breath. His world was about to widen - have more depth - define his character - develop understanding of another type of classroom.  And after a little discussio...

Update:  If you would like to know more about Ivey's League click on the highlighted "Ivey's League" in the post - or about preschool - just click on them.  Amazing people are all around US!! This year has been a great year in preschool . Ivey actually goes to two preschools, which most of you probably already know. She goes to a county school and is in a special education classroom two days a week. Then two other days she still attends the same preschool that the boys went to, just regular kids. Both schools are perfect fits for Ivey and in many more ways, Ivey is a perfect fit for them. In the 'regular' pre-k class, she gets interaction with others her age. She can hear what typical three and four year olds do, the sounds they make, the games they play.... There she is just Ivey - I don't stay at pre-k with Ivey this year. I rely on Ivey's League , her teachers and on occassion other parents to tell me about the wonderful things going on in the cl...

Randomness of the past few weeks

Image
Tea Party at the church preschool - For clarification, Ivey will go to the church preschool and to big school during the week. It will only be for a few hours at both places, but she is ready for something bigger than me and home. The beach with daddy - after pneumonia had passed. I loved the ocean! First day of school at 'big' school with my teachers About to start my first day of 'big' school. Making sure my hair looks pretty and all my curls are in place. The ride to 'big' school. Not a care in the world. Can you see my cute new shorts? Walker flying his kite at the beach. Brooke - My new God sister - The only one missing here is Walker. He actually wanted to go to bed -exhausted. This many kiddos is the result of only four families. Can you say exponential growth? Knox at the beach. No idea what he is doing. Jumbled randomness of the last few week. Enjoy your last few days of summer - we plan to.

A Birthday Request From The Birthday Girl

Image
For Ivey's birthday she would really love it if everyone started to learn a little sign language so that she can get to know you. She loves the interaction and is picking up new sign rather quickly. We practice what is called hand-under-hand with her. That means we place our hands under Ivey's to sign to her or to guide her hands. Her hands are ALWAYS on top. Remember when approaching her gently touch her on her on the top of her forearm first. Her hands are her eyes, so we much treat them with respect. The more we offer her our hands, the more she will learn - we will enrich her life and introduce her to the world that she does not see and the sounds that she can not hear very well. To help facilitate this goal I will begin a list of words that Ivey's knows and is in the process of learning up on the sidebar. TODAY AT PRESCHOOL...A BIRTHDAY PARTY, ARTS AND CRAFTS, AND THE PET STORE Petting the rodents outside. Giving Mrs. Ashley a run for her money with that eye. Pl...

We waited a long time for these jingle bells +

Ivey is sitting in the middle with Ms. Ashley (in the green sweater). Walker is over in the left hand corner. Thank you FBCPS.

That's my friend right there... "I-Bee"

Image
They were reading to her and playing peek-a-boo. The perfect kodack moment. So if you are wondering where they went it was to watch their friend 'I-bee' in the camera. This mama's heart is smiling. God really does give rainbows after the rainstorm. Making holiday pictures............isn't necessarily the best tactile activity for Ivey. She is not very fond of the feel of the brush on her hand or flattening out her hand, but sometimes Ivey and I must compromise. To be able to look back on those little hand prints years from now... This is Ms. Taylor. She attends one of our local colleges and is visiting with Ivey in school for course credits.

What a day

Early Morning Midmorning Asleep? Noon ...... such a big day

We are definitely not the brady bunch

Nothing like a little Brady Bunch sing-a-long is there? Don't you think Ivey is doing a great job at preschool? She really loves it. I think this will be one of the best experiences Ivey will ever have. Ever. She is painting, gluing and playing on the playground. It is so wonderful. The best part is the other kiddos. They love her. There is one little boy in particular who has really taken to Ivey. While we are there he tends to stick close by and bring her toys. He hardly left her side while on the playground, which is funny considering that 2 year olds don't normally play together, but around each other. Ivey's first day on the playground I took her over to a little jiggle car and put her in (driver side). He climbed in (passenger side) and kept shaking his head at me and saying something in 2 year old lingo that completely went over my head. Finally I got it. That sweet pea just wanted to drive Ivey. So we switched seats. He made sure that Ivey was set a...
